Llandudno Seaside Resort town and a pesky seagull

Early this morning headed off to the gorgeous seaside resort town of Llandudno (it's right up there with the likes of Brighton and Liverpool) with its 19th century pier like a step back in time, along with the incredible Victorian architecture ... managed to beat the crowds and get the (ancient) cable -car up to the summit of Great Orme headland but the winds came up whilst w up there exploring and made the decision not to wait, and made the trek down on foot.....mmm, well,  made it in one piece and I'm so glad as otherwise I would have missed some spectacular scenery and the opportunity to just sit and gaze out over the township and across to the mountains. Extraordinary. Walked the old Pier and had a spot of fun, lunched at one of the seaside Hotels, and finished up grabbing a British soft serve cone of which I've become addicted and set off armed with said icecream to climb another thousand steps to where the car was parked and along came a GIANT pesky seagull out of nowhere and stole my icecream (nearly taking my ear off in the process) good grief I'd only eaten the top off! Well clearly its addiction is worse than mine as I did not fight back. Enjoy the pics, and yes there's a lot because this is one sensational place.

A lovely look-out over the town

... head into Happy Valley gardens and spend some lovely time before getting the cable car up

...zoom in on that Pier .. will explore later

...spend a while in the gardens enjoying the summer-like day

...Queen for a day eh?

... I call this the silver sea.... photos do not do its colour justice

...Queen of mushrooms more like it

...right, enough fun in Happy Valley Gardens, time to head up the hill a little and purchase cable car tickets
... and I did mention they are vintage era didn't I?!! (commenced in 1969)

...the views breathtaking

... the tramway to the summit opened in 1902

...its the longest cable car span in Britain reaching the top and walk about and enjoy views

..by this stage the winds had come up at the summit and the cable cars unsafe to continue operation so the decision was made not to wait around and descend on foot. The hikers out there will sympathise, its much harder on the body to descend steep slopes then it is to ascend!

from the precipice...a sheer drop

...the cars starting running again  about half way down(taken from the path)

... Kashmir goats roam freely on Great Orme

...right, made it down in one piece and off  to enjoy the 19th century Pier

... my icecream kind of looked like this before the pesky seagull swooped down and swiped it!!

...how apt this was - a Punch and Judy Show underway!  The kids were loving it!

...had a traditional British lunch with a fabulous view

...and a few last pics taken from the car on the way out and back to Old Colwyn

What a brilliant day! and the weather perfect - not so tomorrow!
